A.G.I. Certified Firearm Appraisal
Firearm Appraisals & Portfolios
Why an appraisal?
-Your home is likely insured for fire, flooding, hail, wind, and other damages, but unless you have provided your insurance company with a detailed appraisal of your firearms, and added the appropriate coverage to your insurance policy, your entire firearms collection will be valued at a flat rate, usually less than $5000, in the event that the guns are damaged or destroyed by a tornado, fire, or wind and hail damage to your home. The same would apply in the event of theft or robbery.
-Unfortunately, many firearm owners only become aware of this after an accident has occurred, and then lose thousands and thousands of dollars when they find out that they have neither adequate insurance coverage nor any comprehensive record of their investment. Since scopes and other accessories also make up a significant portion of the cost, there is usually no reimbursement for any of those items, as records are very rarely kept.
-Firearm collections can be considered liquid assets in legal matters, and can also be liquidated by an individual in need of collateral or funds for other issues that may arise. For a firearms consumer who has invested heavily in a collection of such assets, it is important to have an accurate valuation of your investment, and it does not matter if your collection is small or large. Even a very small collection of firearms and accessories can often be valued at several thousand dollars.
- Litigation, probate, bankruptcy, divorce, and other legal matters may require an appraisal of firearms to be submitted to the court. Elk Castle provides these services, as well as Expert Witness testimony.
Why a Portfolio?
Elk Castle offers bound portfolio appraisals of all your firearms and accessories, easily visible at your fingertips for quick searching and valuation. Professionally printed and bound, this is your personal collection in an elegant presentation book. Portfolios are an excellent tool for presenting individual items or complete collections for sale to prospective buyers.
Why Elk Castle?
With decades of combined experience, Elk Castle’s team of certified appraisers will assess any collection of firearms and accessories, and provide an honest and accurate written appraisal. We can provide this service in our retail store or at the customer’s location. Some firearms, due to age, rarity, or other factors will often require additional research, so the cost of the appraisal is higher, as detailed in our fee structure. Your collection or estate will be assessed and duly researched, after which a professionally printed, hand-signed appraisal will be provided within 10-15 business days. Additional services, such as photos, portfolios, and additional copies can be added at your discretion.
Fees for appraisal are based on the following type(s) of firearm(s):
- Modern Firearm indicates any factory model manufactured after 1900. Most appraised firearms will fall under this classification
- Antique Firearm fees are for any firearm manufactured prior to 1900
- Custom Firearm denotes guns ordered from custom firearm manufacturers, non-factory AR builds, or factory guns that have been customized with aftermarket upgrades/accessories
- Luxury Firearm is any firearm with an appraised retail value over $20,000
Elk Castle Shooting Sports will handle the removal of firearms, ammunition, and accessories and transport the items to our facility for appraisal, maintenance, storage, or other services.
Elk Castle also offers maintenance, cleaning, and gunsmithing services for your firearms, as well as secure storage with full insurance coverage as long as the guns remain in our possession.
Pricing for these services will vary depending on location, condition, and number of items to be handled. Please contact Elk Castle Shooting Sports for quotes on these services.
